The Skints

The Skints

The Skints are undoubtedly one of the most exciting bands to emerge from the English ska-punk scene in the 2010s. The four-piece describe their raw mix of ska, dub, reggae, soul, hip-hop, grime and punk as ‘East London reggae’, paying homage to musical forefathers such as The Clash, The Specials and The Selecter. Later this year they will finally release their long-awaited fifth album ‘Sour Tooth’ and go back on tour, including a show at Melkweg again!

De Andere Lees!club: Atwood & Dienstmaagd, Het Vervolg!
Literatuur

De Andere Lees!club: Atwood & Dienstmaagd, Het Vervolg!

Margaret Atwoods romans.

KADAVAR
Muziek

KADAVAR

From the streets of Berlin, Kadavar keep the spirit of the 1970s alive, channeling the sounds of Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Hawkwind. The band, now a four-piece, has built a formidable reputation over the years. Since their debut in 2012, they have released multiple albums, delivered a memorable performance at Roadburn, and toured alongside the likes of Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Electric Wizard and Blues Pills.2025 may well have been the most productive year in Kadavar’s career. Following the release of studio album 'K.A.D.A.V.A.R', the band quickly returned with 'I Just Want To Be A Sound'. Across both records, Kadavar once again combines crushing riffs with the psychedelic atmosphere that defined its earlier work. The result is music that sounds angrier, heavier and more aggressive than ever before. This autumn, the band brings these songs to Melkweg, joined by support act Scott Hepple & The Sun Band.

SEB LOWE
Muziek

SEB LOWE

Seb Lowe, alongside Kate Couriel (violin) and Joel Goodwin (drums), creates indie pop with a sharp eye on the world. In his songs, the British songwriter tackles themes such as politics, inequality, and sexism, often with dry humor and a keen sense of melody. Their sound moves between indie, folk, and post-punk, with influences from artists including Sinéad O’Connor, Arctic Monkeys, and David Bowie. In recent years, the band has played at festivals such as Y Not Festival and Neighbourhood Weekender and has amassed over ten million likes on TikTok.People Like YouOn their latest single, “People Like You,” the band offers a sharp reflection on masculinity, violence, and collective memory. The lyrics criticize how harmful ideas are passed down, how history repeats itself, and how a naive trust in inevitable moral progress often leads to disappointment. After the show at Bitterzoet sold out rapidly, Seb Lowe has added a second show at Melkweg on Wednesday, December 9.

The signature blend of rap, rock, and turntables remains as vital as ever—raw, innovative, and instantly recognizable. That unique sound shines once again in full force. Starting this October, the band will hit the road with a set featuring both brand-new material and an arsenal of Urban Dance Squad classics.Urban Dance SquadAs pioneers of the crossover genre, Urban Dance Squad had a profound influence on bands such as Rage Against the Machine. The group achieved international success and built a formidable reputation as one of the most exciting live acts of its era. They earned the respect and support of artists including Lenny Kravitz and were invited to tour as support for both David Bowie and U2. After releasing five studio albums and following a turbulent yet groundbreaking career, Urban Dance Squad disbanded in 2000. Today, Rudeboy and DJ DNA are carrying that legacy forward—while writing an exciting new chapter of their own.
