Behind striking visuals, an effortless appearance, and visible talent, many working in fashion struggle each day to earn a living through creative work. Beneath the illusion of glamour lies a reality of uncertainty, financial pressure, and the persistent feeling of not being sufficiently seen as an emerging maker.The Endless Trend of Struggle draws attention to this often concealed side of the industry. The exhibition presents designers who find themselves in a pivotal phase of their professional practice. They are ambitious, consciously engaged with their surroundings, and guided by more than aesthetics alone.At a time when the pressure on performance, budget cuts, and technological developments such as artificial intelligence continue to place the sector under strain, The Endless Trend of Struggle seeks to create a moment of reflection and openness. A space where stories can be shared, and where mental strain is not ignored, but acknowledged.The exhibition showcases the work and personal experiences of Eva & Alexia Popa, Eva Marie-Louise, Lena Sengers, Tijn Roozen and Trinity Williams. In combination with portrait photography by Xaveer May, it reveals that this struggle is not an individual failing, but a collective reality within the current system.At the same time, The Endless Trend of Struggle highlights the beginning of a shift driven by a new generation of creatives who prioritise honesty, engagement, and mutual support. Through their ways of collaborating, coping with pressure, and defining their goals, they are transforming the culture from within.This exhibition has been organised by Milk Made, Melkweg’s talent development programme for young programme makers with a fresh perspective and a passion for culture.
