ECCA VANDAL

Ecca Vandal goes her own way. You can hear this in her inspirations, which range from Nina Simone to Fugazi, and in her music. She combines punk, jazz, hip hop and electronic sounds into a style that is instantly recognisable as her own. On stage, she turns this into powerful live shows that make you a fan right away. Her energetic performances have not gone unnoticed. Artists like Limp Bizkit, IDLES and Queens of the Stone Age took her along as a support act. This year, she brings her new album ‘LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO UNFOLLOW’ to Melkweg. About the album, she says:

De onnavolgbare Ice, bekend van Mocro Maffia, deelt opnieuw zijn verhaal in het DeLaMar Theater. Verwacht een show vol rauwe eerlijkheid, met een Ice die zich kwetsbaarder en scherper dan ooit toont, doorspekt met onverwachte humor. Een intieme avond die de mens achter het icoon blootlegt.

The Waterboys

The Waterboys brengt een bijzondere tributeshow aan hun klassieke Fisherman's Blues-era met gastoptreden van Steve Earle. Met legendarische fiddler Steve Wickham en een achtenkoppige band vol americana-roots zal dit een van de beste Waterboys-shows ooit worden.

Een voorstelling die de meest invloedrijke klimaatspeeches van de afgelopen vijftig jaar onderzoekt. Van de optimistische oproepen in de jaren '70 tot de huidige wanhoop en de activisme van jongeren, de voorstelling reflecteert op de geschiedenis van de klimaatbeweging en de evolutie van de klimaatretoriek.

DONNIE

Dit stuk is een gedurfde hervertelling van Mozarts Don Giovanni, waarbij de focus ligt op de mensen om de beroemde figuur heen. Een energieke voorstelling die opera en hiphop combineert met live muziek. De voorstelling onderzoekt de consequenties van daden en biedt een hoopvolle boodschap over opstaan tegen onrecht.

I WAS A TEENAGE SEX PISTOL (2025)

In 2026, it will be exactly 50 years since The Sex Pistols’ debut single, ‘Anarchy in the UK’, was released. Punk was born: blaringly loud, brazen, dirty and raw, and with a raised middle finger, the band sent a veritable shockwave through a UK ravaged by crisis and unemployment. In this raw film, the band’s original bassist, Glen Matlock, tells the story, immediately revealing the major, often surprising role he played in the band’s success. Featuring a wealth of historical footage and interviews, this film – based on Matlock’s book of the same name – recounts the band’s origins, the release of their first single and their debut LP, *Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols*. This album, which was immediately met with censorship and boycotts, is now regarded as one of the most important and influential albums in pop history. Narrator Matlock comes across as surprisingly gentle, a world away from the common image of the brash Sex Pistols. It is hardly surprising that he soon clashed with Johnny Rotten. Matlock left the band after the release of their debut album, but his influence is indelible. Featuring Steve Jones, Paul Cook, Fat Mike, Debbie Harry, Billy Idol and others.Melkweg often hosts different types of programmes at the same time, such as concerts, club nights and films. AKIRA (1988)

Rediscover Katsuhiro Otomo’s 1988 anime classic *Akira* in our Cinema, in a stunning restoration!In July 1988, after a new type of weapon of mass destruction was deployed in Japan’s Kanto region, the Third World War broke out. 31 years later – 2019. Amid preparations for next year’s Olympic Games, occasional glimpses of the glory days of Neo-Tokyo – the megalopolis built on Tokyo Bay – can be seen. Kaneda, the leader of a bōsōzoku motorbike gang, leaves a trail of destruction in his wake as he rides through the desolate streets of Neo-Tokyo. One evening, Tetsuo, one of the gang members, bumps into a peculiar test subject from a government experiment. Stunned, Kaneda and the gang watch as Tetsuo and the mysterious boy are taken away to a military laboratory. To rescue Tetsuo, Kaneda attempts to break into the military facility, where he discovers that Tetsuo has developed supernatural powers. Meanwhile, one of the test subjects in the special nursery predicts the awakening of the top-secret AKIRA. Tetsuo tests his new powers during his journey through the underworld where AKIRA slumbers.Melkweg often hosts different types of programmes at the same time, such as concerts, club nights and films. Golomb

Het trio Golomb uit Ohio combineert ingewikkelde familiebanden met een door fuzz doordrenkte urgentie. De band gedijt evenzeer op vertrouwen als op wrijving. Het nieuwe album 'The Beat Goes On' vertaalt de ruigheid van het Midwesten naar rammelende noisepop, variërend van de waas van Spiritualized tot de ruigheid van Guided By Voices.
