Cultuur Radar operates the website cultuur-radar.nl and the accompanying mobile app (iOS and Android). We collect and present information about cultural events in the Netherlands so users can easily discover what's on.

What data we collect
Account data
When you create an account through Google or Apple, we receive the following information from that service:
- Name
- Email address
- Profile picture (if available)
We do not store passwords. Authentication is handled entirely by Google or Apple.
Usage data — website (Google Analytics)
With your consent, we collect anonymised usage data through Google Analytics to improve our website. This includes:
- Anonymised IP address
- Device and browser type
- Pages visited and visit duration

Usage data — mobile app (PostHog)
In the mobile app we use PostHog as our product analytics tool. PostHog is hosted at eu.i.posthog.com within the European Union. We collect the following data to improve the app:
- An anonymous device ID (generated by PostHog on first launch)
- Interaction data: app opens, viewed events, favorites, searches, use of the "Surprise me" feature, and clicks to ticket vendors
- The selected city filter
When you are signed in, these interactions are linked to your account ID, name, and email so we can aggregate statistics consistently across devices. We use this data exclusively for product improvement — never for advertising or resale.
Opt out: You can disable anonymous analytics at any time via Settings → Privacy → Anonymous analytics in the app.
Event data
We collect publicly available event information from cultural venue websites in the Netherlands. This concerns information about performances, concerts, and other cultural events that venues publish themselves.
Legal basis for processing
We process personal data on the following legal bases:
- Consent — for placing analytics cookies on the website and, in the app, for collecting anonymous statistics through PostHog (revocable via Settings → Privacy)
- Contractual necessity — for providing account functionality such as favorites and cross-device synchronisation
- Legitimate interest — for collecting and presenting public event information and for product improvement based on aggregated usage data
Purpose of processing
We use your data for the following purposes:
- Providing and improving our service
- Storing favorite events
- Analysing app and website usage
- Providing a personalised experience
Cookies
Our website uses cookies for session management and, with your consent, for analytics. See our cookie policy for a full list of the cookies we use.
Sharing with third parties
We do not sell your data to third parties. We share data only with the following parties, as necessary for our service:
- Google — for authentication (Google Sign-In) and website analytics (Google Analytics)
- Apple — for authentication (Sign in with Apple)
- PostHog — for product analytics in the mobile app, hosted on EU servers (eu.i.posthog.com)
- Neon Database — for storing account data and favorites, hosted within the EU
Retention periods
- Account data — retained for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete account in the app.
- App analytics (PostHog) — PostHog retains data for up to 7 years by default. When you delete your account, data linked to your account is also removed. To request deletion of anonymously collected device statistics, email info@cultuur-radar.nl.

Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the following rights:
- Right of access — you can request which data we process about you
- Right to rectification — you can have inaccurate data corrected
- Right to erasure — you can request deletion of your data. You can also delete your account yourself via the app and disable anonymous analytics via Settings → Privacy.
- Right to restriction — you can request restriction of processing
- Right to portability — you can request your data in a structured format
- Right to object — you can object to the processing of your data

Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data. Our website and app use HTTPS encryption and data is stored securely on servers within the European Union.
Complaints
If you have a complaint about the processing of your personal data, you can lodge it with the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (Dutch Data Protection Authority).
Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The most recent version is always available on this page. We will notify you of any significant changes.
